One thing. Each Day. All Year. It’s how I operate. I like break things down into small, bite-sized tasks. If I don’t, it won’t happen because I’ll get completely overwhelmed.
When I ran across The One Thing: The Surprisingly Simple Thing Behind Extraordinary Results on Amazon, I thought, “Cool. I must be on the right track.” But then I read though the reviews and did a little research and realized the contents of this book are changing the way people work. Everyone is overwhelmingly positive about the message of the book.
But I wondered how could you fill up an ENTIRE 240 page book with content. I mean…it’s just about figuring out ONE thing and then DOING that ONE thing. Right?
Being the frugal girl I am, I hem-hawed around and didn’t buy the book. But I kept thinking about it. For days. I couldn’t handle it anymore and finally bought the Kindle version so I could dig into it ASAP.
Let me tell you something…
The One Thing is KNOCKING MY SOCKS OFF!
My brain is always full of to-do’s and ideas and projects that I want to tackle. But I have a hard time getting it all done. I’m a STARTER. It’s the way I’m wired.
But, you know what? I’m half way though this book and I’m starting to get the point. I CAN be a finisher. I just need to figure out the steps to get the finish line and work my way there…ONE step at a time.
It’s so much more than putting together a to do list.
Of course there’s all kinds of free resources that go along with the book on the website. There’s printouts, instructions, and even an app. I’m not sure if they’ll make sense without reading the book, but it’s definitely worth a look.
Your task for today is still to organize your weekly calendar and to do list. But if you want to catapult your t0-done list into a new level, check out The One Thing reviews on Amazon (affiliate). You’ll be glad you did!
