The time between Thanksgiving and Christmas can be filled with the busiest days of the year. Parties, plays, family gatherings, gift shopping. Add to that the fact that we’re putting our house on the market, trying to keep it spotless for showings plus traveling to our new city to look for a new home. We also have three milestone birthdays (1, 65 and 90!) to celebrate over the next month!
You have your own version of the above so I’m sure you’ll understand when I tell you I will be taking much of December off. There are a few campaigns lined up and we’ll (finally!) finish the Guide to a Clean and Organized Kitchen series. Other than that, my usual writing time will be spent planing and getting ahead on this blog AND Spring Cleaning 365. I’ll also be working on a few personal items that I’ve been postponing way. too. long.
The most important reason I’m taking a break, however, is so my family can spend time together and truly enjoy this holiday season.
In the midst of the chaos, we have to be very deliberate to make the most of this season. You probably feel the same way!
Truth in the Tinsel: An Advent Experience for Little Hands
One of the ways I’m being deliberate this year is to go through Truth in the Tinsel with my kids. Amanda gave me a copy last year and I looked through it; but with a baby ready to pop, I didn’t take the time to do much of anything meaningful with my oldest son.
Pregnancy last year. Moving this year. There’s always something…
This year will be different though! This year, I’ve planned ahead!!
I’ve already printed the ebook and begun collecting materials needed for our daily advent activities.
Every day leading up to Christmas (Starting December 1), we’ll be reading a portion of the Christmas story from the Bible, making a simple ornament to go along with that part of the story, and using the talking points to have some meaningful conversation.
Quality time with my kids. Fun crafts. Learning about the real meaning of Christmas. It’s all so exciting! I’m ready to spend December impressing God’s Word on my kids’ heart!
If so, click here to get your own copy for just $7.99 (use the discount code IDREAM to get 20% off!). It could be the best gift you give them this season!
(p.s. If you aren’t the crafty type —or just waaaay to busy— there are printable ornaments you can add to your cart. Easy. Peasy.)
