Spring Clean Kitchen Backsplash and Touch Up Paint
Let’s face it…food and grease splatters on our kitchen walls. It happens and that’s okay. But we can sometimes get so used to seeing those imperfections that we start to not see them at all. So today, let’s take a few minutes to wipe down the kitchen walls.
Cleaning hard-surfaced areas like the backsplash will be pretty easy if you have the right tools. Before starting, I suggest gathering the following items:
- minimally abrasive scouring brush or pad (make sure it’s new so you don’t spread gunk or germs all over the wall)
- soft cleaning cloth
- all-purpose cleaner
- paint and paint brush
Start in one corner of the backsplash, spray a small amount of all-purpose cleaner on the tile and begin to wipe down with a cleaning cloth. As you make your way across the backsplash, it’s almost certain that you’ll run across a few areas that have been splattered with food. You should be able to easily clean the majority of it with the scraper. However, there may be a few areas that need a little more power behind it. That’s where the abrasive scouring pad comes in. Use just enough pressure to clean the tile, but not enough to damage the surface.
Repeat the same process on your walls. More than likely, you’ll find some spots that are in need of some serious touch up paint. Open your leftover paint container, stir it up well (don’t skip this step unless you want to see brush marks after it dries), and touch up paint where necessary.
We have to repaint our kitchen walls often. That probably says more about my cooking style that anything else! Nevertheless, it doesn’t take much effort or time. It does, however, make a big impact in the way our kitchen looks! I bet the same will be true for you!
Oh, and before I forget.
