Are you clothes too big?
Not the right style for your body type?
Lacking other pieces that make it “just right”?
Well, you are not alone! Just ask around. I bet you could find a few friends who are in the exact same situation.
Or Just Ask Me.
My wardrobe used to consist mostly of suits and other business attire. But for the past three years I’ve pretty much worn maternity clothing or clothes 2 sizes larger than “normal” as I get rid of baby weight.
Now that my “job” consists of running after a toddler and changing baby diapers, my daily attire consists of workout pants and a t-shirt…accessorized with an unwashed ponytail.
Cute I tell ya. Aren’t you glad this isn’t a vlog?!
I know my wardrobe needs to change. Big Time. So, one of my goals (albeit a superficial goal) this year is to completely streamline and redo my wardrobe. But of course I want to do that without spending a fortune.
An easy way to make that happen is to participate in a Clothing Swap.
Get a New Wardrobe with a Clothing Swap
If you want a fun way to clear out your closet and update your wardrobe, get a few friends together and have a clothing swap. The more participants, the better.
Here’s a simple way to pull it together:
- First, you’ll need a gracious hostess. If she has clothing racks to use, that would be ideal. But rods or even a cleared out closet will work.
- Then determine a date and time, and spread the word.
- When the big day arrives, participants should bring clothing on hangers and place on the racks according to size. (Size tags would be helpful, but certainly not necessary).
- Finally, everyone gets to “go shopping” and update their wardrobe!
When the fun is over, you’ll need a plan in place to get rid of clothing not taken. You can either have participants take what they brought or have one person take the leftovers to the nearest donation center. Just don’t leave it for the hostess…unless she wants it, of course!
So, have you ever participated in a clothing swap? What made it successful? Or what would you do differently next time?
