Summer is here and it’s HOT! That means we need to put together cleaning checklist for the summer. Since we had a Massive Spring Cleaning Checklist, I thought it might be nice to have a slightly smaller list to tackle this summer. It’s definitely not the ULTIMATE summer cleaning checklist, but it will give you a few ideas on how to clean a few things that are pertinent in this scorching hot heat.
Serve watermelon without a mess.
This trick on how to serve watermelon without making a mess is really one of the tips I learned last year. I no longer dread cutting up fruit. Plus we actually get to eat it the day we bring it home!
Clean your grill.
Summer and grilling go together like the washer and dryer…uh, or something like that! The thing is, you need to clean your grill periodically. Here’s a quick tutorial on how to clean your grill with aluminum foil.
Keep berries fresh longer.
The benefits are numerous for stocking up on fresh, local fruit. Unfortunately, there’s one small downside: you have to make time to freeze, can, or preserve the fruit almost immediately. If you let the berries sit out too long, mold spores could grow rather quickly. But there’s a trick to keep berries fresh longer and kill mold spores. Don’t worry. It’s super easy!
Naturally clean fruits and vegetables.
Cleaning your fruits and vegetables is important in order to not spread germs when cutting (or eating for that matter!).
Speaking of fruit…those fruit flies are pretty annoying.
If you have those pesky fruit flies hanging our your kitchen, try one or all of these tips to get rid of those fruit flies once and for all!
Now, what about those ants?
Flies. Ants. Now bugs!
Speaking of bugs, those of you who are like me and get attacked by bugs every time you go outside may find this post about how to keep bugs and insects from biting you useful.
Use a ceiling fan to reduce air conditioning expenses.
Make sure your ceiling fan is turning clockwise (this looks counterclockwise if you are looking up) to cool your home effectively and reduce cooling expenses.
Take care of your mattress.
Use this trick to remember if you need to flip or flip and rotate your mattress.
Wash your bathing suit…the right way.
Washing your bathing suit correctly is important or you may end up with an elastic-less suit!
Double-duty swim diapers.
Speaking of bathing suits, our little ones often need swim diapers. In a perfect world, we’d all have reusable swim diapers or babies who potty trained early. But, that’s not always the case. So, if you’re one who likes to use disposable swim diapers, here’s a quick tip on how to get more than one use out of those swim diapers.
Clean sand from hands and feet.
Speaking of kids and swimming, taking them to the beach can be a blast! But, the sand can sometimes be ruin a good time if it transfers from their hands to their food…or worse, their eyes. Fortunately, there is an incredibly easy way to remove sand and keep it from sticking to your skin. Baby powder is a must have for my beach bag now!
Sanitize your nail supplies.
If you are a DIYer when it comes to manicures, make sure your nail supplies are sanitized properly.
So, that’s what’s on the summer cleaning agenda this summer. What would you add?
