Every time my mom or mother-in-law came over during the first few years of marriage my microwave would be dirty. I mean E.V.E.R.Y. time! And not just somewhat dirty. Dried spaghetti exploding all over the microwave dirty!
Even though I tried to hide it, there would always be a reason for someone to use the microwave.
It’s not that I never cleaned the microwave. It was just easy too forget about the mess when it was hidden behind a door. When I finally did clean the microwave it seemed to be so difficult. Dried food is not exactly an easy thing to scrape off the sides of a microwave, especially when it’s been cooked on a few hundred times.
Someone finally let me in on a little trick.
Put a cup of water in a glass measuring cup and heat it in the microwave until it boils. Let it sit for a few minutes and wipe with a dishrag.
The steam softens the dried, cooked-on food enough so you can just wipe it off easily. You may still need to use a little elbow grease in a few places but it’s nothing like trying to clean the microwave cold.
That’s it! Super easy.
Do you have any other tricks for cleaning a microwave?
