31 Days to Make Cleaning a Habit – Habit 21
Set a Timer for Everything
Since many of us don’t exactly like to clean and it’s often easy to find an excuse to postpone it, setting a timer and racing against the clock is a fantastic way to encourage productivity.
5 minutes is usually the timeframe I recommend because it’s long enough to accomplish a task, but short enough that it shouldn’t prevent us from doing the job. It’s a very reasonable timeframe to help achieve at least one goal.
One of two things usually happens when the timer goes off:
- You’re excited to cross one thing off your to do list.
- You’re motivated to continue on to the next project.
Either way, it’s a great feeling when the job is complete!
So, set that timer and get to work!
Do you ever race against the clock when you’re organizing or cleaning?
