31 Days to Make Cleaning a Habit – Habit 22
Save Time by Grouping Similar Items Together
We all want to save time when it comes to cleaning our home, right?
One way we can make that happen is to organize our belongings appropriately. When similar items are grouped and stored together, we don’t have to dig through multiple areas in our home to find what we’re looking for. We can know there are one or two places to find the item, and if not found we can be assured we don’t possess it. Keeping similar items together will help us take fewer steps, thus saving us time. Plus it will enable us to use our brain power on more important things!
Group Like Items…
1. Group cleaning supplies together so you don’t have to hunt and scour around the house to find what you need to complete a simple task.
2. Always be on the lookout for how you can simplify a process. I recently implemented this when reorganizing our ironing supplies. They are now all together in the same room as our clothes and it’s saved tremendous time during the morning routine.
3. Use baskets, gadgets, shelves, or boxes to keep similar items like office supplies, kitchen utensils, toys, magazines, tools, _____ (fill in the blank) together. There are many ways in which to implement this but my favorite is to store cords. Since there are always an abundance of cords, cables, etc. in our home, we corral them all in one place so they can always be found when needed.
