We’re moving towards the finish line of the 31 Days to Make Cleaning a Habit series and I’m pretty sure you’re going to like the next next couple of habits!
31 Days to Make Cleaning a Habit – Habit 29
Involve Family Members
Most of the mess isn’t yours and if it is, you probably made the mess by providing meals, clean clothes, etc. for your family, right? They helped dirty up the home so don’t be afraid to get the family involved!
- Give children age appropriate chores.
- Allow all family members to pick up after themselves and implement habits mentioned previously in this series (like making up beds each morning, immediately putting dirty clothes in the hamper, participating in the 5 minute pick-up, etc.)
- Create a Chore Chart.
- Give rewards (if that’s your thing).
- Make it fun!
- Thank them for helping!
Of course, if you are the primary keeper of the home, by all means clean it joyfully! I don’t think training children and asking other family members to clean up after themselves distracts from that though. It will only help the household run more smoothly as well as teach responsibility to maturing children.
Plus it will allow for more together time as a family…and that is what we want most of all, right?
How do you involve family members when cleaning the home?
