31 Days to Make Cleaning a Habit – Habit 26
Collect Action Items in a Command Center or Inbox
Some people call it a command center. David Allen, author of Getting Things Done, calls it “IN.” Others just have a spot/area/pile.
It doesn’t matter what it’s called or how it looks; we just all need an area to place those items that requires action.
Instead of piling action items around the house, shoving receipts, bills, etc. in our purse, or wondering if the kids have papers that need to be signed in their backpacks, we can make it a habit to put all of those things in one location.
Benefits of Inbox or Command Center Collection:
- You’ll know exactly what needs to be completed and where the info is located
- There will be less to clean because random items won’t be floating around the house
- All action items will be grouped together so you can sign papers, pay bills, scan receipts (basically fly through the in-box) in a hurry.
Tomorrow we’ll talk about how we can make sure our inbox and/or command center doesn’t get out of control but until then, let’s focus on getting our actions items in one place.
Do you already have a collection area for action items in your home? How does it work for you?
