As part of the 31 Days to Make Cleaning a Habit series, we’re going focus on creating habits in the kitchen for the next few days…
31 Days to Make Cleaning a Habit – Habit 9
Clean While You Cook
Have you ever made a delicious, gourmet meal (um, ok…whipped something semi-healthy together!) only to find yourself in the middle of a dirty, disastrous kitchen? Every day?
Yep, me too!
I often think it’s the inevitable mess that makes meal preparation such a chore. Thankfully, there’s a habit you can implement to make cleaning the kitchen less work…clean while you cook:
- Put extra ingredients back where they belong as soon as you finish measuring, pouring, or mixing.
- Hand wash mixing bowls or other large items while a recipe is baking.
- Straighten cabinets, wipe down counters, etc. when your meal is simmering stove.
- Clean pots and pans while they are still hot. At the least least rinse them out and let water soak in the pans.
Always be thinking about what you can do with extra time while you’re cooking, even if it’s only a minute here and a minute there. It will make the final clean up task in the kitchen much easier.
Do you clean as you cook? If not, do you think you could try it for 31 days?
