We’re moving on to the final kitchen habit in the 31 Days to Make Cleaning a Habit series…
31 Days to Make Cleaning a Habit – Habit 13
Clean Refrigerator Before Restocking
Even if you organize your refrigerator to reduce food waste, keeping it clean can sometimes be hassle.
Seriously, how do we get so much gunk, food, and liquid all over the shelves?
Every once in a while, when the cleaning/organizing mood hits, it can be fun to clean out the fridge from top to bottom. Most often, though, the mess is hidden and forgotten (at least in my home!).
One way to eliminate the need for a deep clean – or at least reduce the frequency – is to straighten the food and wipe down the refrigerator shelves often.
When you come home from a grocery shopping trip, your fridge is most likely empty. Or at least as empty as it’s going to get, right?! That means it’s a perfect time to briefly wipe down the shelves and organize what’s already on the shelves. Then you have a nice, clean environment to stock your new food!
You’re most likely tired after your grocery store trip and I know adding this habit to your routine adds an extra minute or two. In the long run, though, I think you’ll be thrilled with your nice, clean refrigerator!
Does your refrigerator need to be cleaned right now?
