When it come to cleaning, there a lot of things I don’t do. You may think that I’m a super neat-freak but, in reality, I don’t like to clean. I do, however, enjoy the benefits of having a clean home. So, I do clean quite a bit.
But I also do everything in my power to finish as fast as possible.
If you’ve read how how I clean my kitchen in 5 minutes or less and fold laundry in 5 minutes or less you may have noticed that I like to set a timer. It keeps me focused an keeps my eye on the proverbial prize.
From the comments, some of you probably thought it was nearly impossible to fold a load of laundry in 5 minutes, so I’m going to let you in on a little secret. I have a couple of tricks that make folding laundry a cinch.
1. Always buy the same type of socks.
Each member in our family only has one type of dress sock and one type of athletic sock. So when I’m ready to fold them, there aren’t 10 different types and brands of socks to match. I don’t have to go searching for two socks with the blue stripe in the mile-high mound of laundry. If we have socks with a blue stripe, they ALL have blue stripes, so it doesn’t really matter which two are paired up.
2. Don’t fold everything.
It may go against every grain in your body to have messy drawers, but this tip is a major time saver. Sometimes is better to have a messy drawer (that no one sees) and have a few minutes of time back!
When it comes to baby pajamas, undergarments, and dishcloths, I don’t think it matters that they look nice and neat in a drawer. If they get wrinkled, there’s no harm done. So, when I sort those items from the clean clothes, I just grab them and stuff them in their drawer!
Do you have a different opinion of me now?! Ha!
What about you? Do use these same shortcuts or do you have some of your own?
