Over the years I have had the opportunity to try hundreds of cleaning products and tools. Most of the products I’ve tried worked fine, but could easily be replaced by any other cleaning product. A side-by-side comparison of two similar products will usually provide similar results.
However, there are a few cleaning products and tools that outshine the rest. They work. They last. They help you get the job done fast.
Good cleaning products and tools can cut your cleaning time in half. Good cleaning products can almost make cleaning enjoyable.
So today I want to share with you the best of the best products and cleaning tools. None of these recommendations are sponsored, but I have included affiliate links. I also reserve the right to change my mind and update this post at any time. Times change and products improve, so I want to make sure I’m always recommending the best of the best for you!
The Best Cleaning Products and Tools to Cut Your Cleaning Time in Half
This Dyson DC59 Animal Cordless Vacuum Cleaner is my favorite vacuum by far. I have this vacuum and LOVE it!! It makes me WANT to vacuum every day. Granted I don’t vacuum every single day, but I do it often enough that my carpet stays clean…which means less work.
It’s small…so I can store it in any closet it my home.
It’s cordless…so I can move about the house, including up and down stairs, with no trouble at all (unlike my “normal” vacuum).
It’s extremely lightweight…so it’s not a big deal to move about the house vacuuming floors, curtains, upholstery, ceiling fans, crown molding, and just about anything else the attachments will allow me to vacuum.
It even allows me to easily clean under furniture, beds, dressers, etc.; something that never happened when using a standard upright vacuum.
This Dyson vacuum is my favorite by a long shot!
I’ve reviewed a few steam mops on this blog and this one wins hands down! When I first used this all-in-one vacuum and steam mop, I thought there was no way it would be a winner. First, water and electricity don’t mix. Second, I thought the steam would make the dirt/trash stick to the floor and not be sucked up by the vacuum.
I was wrong.
The BISSELL Symphony All-in-One Vacuum and Steam Mop cuts cleaning time in half because you don’t have to sweep before steam cleaning the floors. It also picks up small debris that is pushed to the corner of the floor with ordinary steam mops.
It’s easy to use.
It’s fun to use.
In my opinion, this is the best steam mop around.
The OXO Good Grips Deep Clean Brush Set makes cleaning around faucets, shower doors, drains, stovetops, etc. a million times easier. Less work. Faster results.
Seriously, they help you easily scrub all the hard-to-clean places where dirt builds up. The larger brush works well for scrubbing grout, shower door tracks, and around the base of a toilet. The smaller brush, is great for cleaning in and around faucets, drains, thin grout lines and other tight spaces. It also features a built-in wiper blade that removes built up dirt from drains and other crevices.
The OXO Good Grips Deep Clean Brush Set work so well that I think you should have at least two sets, one for the kitchen and the other for the bathrooms.
The nylon pan scraper is one of my favorite cleaning tools ever. In fact, I have some printed with my blog name on them to use as business cards! If you sign up for any of my courses, forward the receipt to me and request one of these…I’ll mail it right out to you!
I have about five that I use because they save me so much time when it comes to cleaning the kitchen and floors.
If you’ve ever scrubbed a frying pan or kitchen countertop that had food stuck to it, then you know how much effort and time it can take to clean. Using something as simple as this small cleaning tool reduces the effort and time tremendously.
Since you probably clean the kitchen more than any other room in the house, the nylon pan scraper is a must have!
One of the reasons I love microfiber cloths is that they can be used to clean just about any surface in your home. They work well when cleaning glass, mirrors, or windows. They can be used when conditioning leather furniture. They’re great for cleaning kitchen and bathroom counters. They dry up spills quickly. They are multi-purpose for sure.
Microfiber cloths can help you clean the dirtiest of surfaces and then be thrown in a sanitizing cycle in the washing machine. Easy to use. Plus they help you save time because you don’t have to go around looking for specific towels or paper towels. Just order a pack of microfiber clothes and you’re set for just about any cleaning need!
The first time I used Bar Keepers Friend I was astounded and upset at the same time. I had been using the flat top stove cleaner that’s marketed for that job. I would squirt it on the stove and then scrub…and scrub again…and again…and again. My flat top stove was such a pain to clean that I dreaded having to use it to cook!
Then one magical day I decided to give Bar Keepers Friend a try. And the burn marks came off with barely any scrubbing power. It cut my stove cleaning time by way more than half!
So I used it to clean the bottom of my pans…and my sink…and my oven..and my bathtub; all with huge success. Bar Keepers Friend is now a cleaning staple in my house! I think it should be for yours too
Glass Cleaner and All-purpose Cleaner
To round out this list I thought it would be good to mention that a good glass cleaner and all-purpose cleaner can handle most of your cleaning needs. Of course there are some product specific cleaners you might need like laundry detergent, dishwasher detergent, toilet bowl cleaner, furniture polish, leather cleaner. But most of your cleaning needs can be handled by a glass cleaner and all-purpose cleaner.
Storing fewer gadgets and cleaners simplify the process and make it easier to get good quality cleaning products and tools.
Of course I can’t end this post without mentioning how systematizing your cleaning process can cut your cleaning time in half. Implementing good routines and a cleaning schedule that works for YOU…your house, your family, your preferences, and your lifestyle…can make a world of difference when it comes to getting – and keeping – your home clean.
